Looking for new fast songs
Okay, so, I currently am looking to beef up our repertoire of fast songs. By "fast" I mean fast enough to clap along with; I also mean Edgy or Alternative (I have fast country already for instance). Current upbeat hits at The Edge have been "All Day" and "The Time Has Come" (Hillsongs United). Also: "Salvation is Here" and "Praise Awaits You." I am looking for more like this - or (gasp) even faster!
BTW, the Repertoire lists people have posted are great ... however, what about a distinguishing column for tempo: fast vs medium vs slow/ballads? Or maybe a column for topic: communion, surrender, joy, forgiveness, etc. The reason being: most leaders are not just looking for songs in general to add to their existing repertoire. They are probably looking for something specific. And I'm guessing I'm not the only one out there desperate for some faster offerings. Most CDs have one good fast song, 4-6 medium tempo, and the balance are way slow. This disproportion throws me into a quandary!

Re: Looking for new fast songs
Fast worship songs - always a struggle to find! Except for a few select youth-oriented churches, I think most churches are look for slower tempo songs, which is what the worship leaders end up writing. I have yet to hear that amazingly heavy, fast, and powerful worship album that I'm dying to hear. Maybe we'll just have to make it ourselves.
Here's the fast songs we play at the Rock in Fort Collins:
Foreverandeveretc - David Crowder
No One Like You - David Crowder (we sped this one up a bit)
God is Great - United
The Reason I Live - United (also played faster)
There For Me - By The Tree
Who is Like Our God - Skillet (also sped it up a bit)
Jesus You Alone - Tim Houghes (can be done a bit faster as well)
Right now I'm listening to a cd by a band called "Leeland" that seems fast in general, but I haven't fully processed the lyrics yet.

Re: Looking for new fast songs
Thanks Travis, there are several here I've never heard, so I'm excited to look into them.
Interesting you mention Leeland - I would like to do Yes You Have (heard first on worshiptogether.com) in the future.

Re: Looking for new fast songs
"Your Grace Is Enough" is actually not BY Chris Tomlin, it's by Matt Maher, a Catholic fellow from Phoenix... It's a good song. Just wanted to clear that up ![]()

Re: Looking for new fast songs
Ok - this is an old topic - but I've just registered because I was searching for fast worship songs on the internet and found this.
A few songs that I would love to do but my church doesn't really suit their style are by Tree 63 - The Answer To the Question, Maker of All Things, There is a Kingdom That Cannot Be Shaken.

Re: Looking for new fast songs
Old threads can always be revived! I suggest simply finding a song that has lyrics and chord progressions that you like...and speed it up as much as you choose. You're only limited by your imagination.
