The Deep

Here are the interesting song lyrics of the day. I get some of our songs from Mars Hill, in Seattle It’s from a song called “The Deep.” What do you guys think? It’s out of the box for sure.

The Deep Trust the Lord with all your heart Lean not on your own understanding In all your ways acknowledge Him And He will make your paths straight I acknowledge You’re my Savoiur, Jesus I acknowledge You’re my Lord I trust You with my shovel Knee deep in manure Do not resent His rebuke What He knows divides the deep And put the stars in their place And laid the ground on which we stand I acknowledge that You’re Holy, other I acknowledge You as king I trust You eating gravel And I will remain faithful

I like the concept of trusting God despite being knee deep in poop - whether they mean it literally or metaphorically. The sudden introduction of the concept of eating gravel is rather comical. My opinion is that it smells a little of being “extreme” for the sake of shock value.

Sidenote - I just found the music on Mars Hill’s site - the arrangement is pretty cool. I noticed they changed the lyrics in the recording from “I trust you eating gravel” to “I trust you with my life, Lord.” I wonder why they did that . . .

It’s a… strange… song. The lyrics on the recording are a little more… acceptable than the ones you wrote here. :)

    Interesting song. Very police-ish :)
